A short passage to a working harbour can make an ordinary takeaway feel like a proper holiday meal. A small aluminium boat such as Buster’s MCC is an example when the main purpose is to arrive safely, explore the quay and enjoy simple local food.

Choose the landing before the menu

A fish-and-chip shop near the water does not guarantee a visitor berth, and a working quay may be reserved for commercial users. Check the harbour’s landing rules, approach and suitable alternatives before committing to the destination.

A sensible route can be shorter than the boat’s theoretical range. Allow for forecast wind, tide and reduced speed close to the harbour.

Pack for a relaxed shore visit
