Barcolana Lake Up will return to Lago dei Tre Comuni in Friuli Venezia Giulia on 3 and 4 October for a second edition built around participation. The official programme combines canoeing, kayak polo, model sailing and other outdoor activity as Barcolana takes its “Be Barcolana” theme away from the coast and onto inland water.
The event is relevant to LBG because it treats paddling and small craft as part of the same water-lifestyle ecosystem as sailing. Visitors can encounter several ways of getting afloat without needing a marina berth or a large boat.
Small craft take centre stage
Canoes and kayaks make a lake event easy to approach because they need relatively little infrastructure and can support short sessions for newcomers. Kayak polo adds a team-sport element that shows paddling as something more varied than touring quietly along the shoreline.
