Alfa Romeo and Anantara have introduced a European driving-and-hotel itinerary, beginning with Rome and the Amalfi Coast and combining road travel with a coastal stay for holidaymakers.
Some coastal holidays are shaped as much by the journey as by the days spent looking out to sea. Alfa Romeo and Anantara Hotels and Resorts have announced a new Grand Tour of Europe that links a series of hotel stays with driving experiences.
The partnership revives the idea of the historical European Grand Tour in a contemporary travel format. Its opening itinerary moves from Rome toward the Amalfi Coast, where the road itself becomes part of the holiday.
Rome to the Amalfi Coast starts the programme
The initial Dolce Vita Tour is offered as a three-day experience beginning at Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel. It continues through the Castelli Romani area and Ravello before arriving at Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel.
The route takes in hills and coastal bends rather than focusing only on the destination hotel. Travellers considering a similar journey independently should allow time for local traffic, parking and seasonal restrictions along the Amalfi coast.
Modern and classic Alfa Romeos feature
Guests are offered experiences around the Giulia and Stelvio, including Quadrifoglio versions, as well as selected heritage cars such as the 1950s Giulietta. Availability of a particular vehicle should be checked with the organiser when arranging a trip.
The combination ties road travel to Italian automotive history rather than presenting the cars simply as airport transfers. It is a premium packaged experience, and the precise itinerary and included services should be confirmed before booking.
More destinations are planned for 2027
The organisers say the programme is intended to expand to European routes, including an itinerary connecting Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna and Anantara New York Palace Budapest. That adds inland cities and alpine journeys to the opening Mediterranean focus.
